Frequently Asked Questions
Why You Need Our Molded Case Circuit Breaker ?
In all power distribution equipment, stable and reliable circuit protection is always an essential requirement – and our molded case circuit breakers (MCCBs) fully meet your electrical protection needs. Featuring high-strength flame-retardant enclosures and high-temperature resistance, they can instantly and rapidly interrupt the circuit in case of overloads or short circuits, preventing equipment damage and safety accidents. Our products come in a wide range of specifications covering different current ratings, making them suitable for various scenarios you may require.
What is a Molded Case Circuit Breaker (MCCB)?
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.
A Molded Case Circuit Breaker (MCCB) is a core low-voltage electrical protection device. Its enclosure is made of insulating plastic, and it can simultaneously realize two major functions in a circuit: current switching control and fault protection. It is a key component in medium and low-voltage power distribution systems.
How MCBs work?
Micro circuit breakers (MCBs) monitor the current flowing through the circuit in real-time. Under normal conditions, they remain closed (allowing current to pass). If the current exceeds the preset ‘rated current’, the MCB will automatically ‘trip’ (disconnect the circuit), cutting off the power to prevent overheating, melting of wire insulation, or electrical fires. electromagnetic.
When issues such as damaged insulation on wires or short circuits within electrical appliances occur, the circuit resistance drops sharply, causing the current to surge to several dozen or even hundreds of times its rated value. This extremely high current generates an extremely high temperature in an instant, which not only destroys electrical equipment and melts wires but may also cause arc explosions, posing a severe threat to personal and property safety.
When a circuit fault is detected, a miniature circuit breaker will automatically disconnect the circuit to prevent wire damage and avoid fire risks or the risk of electric shock.
Types of Molded Case Circuit Breaker (MCCB)
Molded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCBs) are categorized into the following types:
Standard Type (overload + short-circuit protection only): It has basic thermal trip (overload protection) and magnetic trip (short-circuit protection) functions.
Selective Type (with short-time delay protection): Based on the standard type, it adds a short-time delay trip function, and the short-time delay can be set (e.g., 0.1-0.5 seconds).
Residual Current Protection Type (with leakage protection, abbreviated as MCCB+RCD): It integrates the functions of an MCCB and a Residual Current Device (RCD). In addition to overload and short-circuit protection, it can also detect residual current (such as human electric shock, line insulation damage) and trip quickly (usually ≤ 0.1 seconds).
In essence, a Molded Case Circuit Breaker (MCCB) is a “controllable safety switch”: it not only acts as a daily “switch” for circuits, but also serves as a “safety guardian” when faults occur, making it a core device for ensuring electrical safety in low-voltage power distribution systems.
